Greg Vaughan is no longer a member of the long-running NBC soap opera\u2019s cast, he announced in a podcast released Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve finished my reign at Days,\u201d Vaughan says in the July 22 episode of That\u2019s Awesome! With Steve and Bradford, which is co-hosted by Vaughan\u2019s former General Hospital co-stars Steve Burton and Bradford Anderson.<\/p>\n
As TVLine exclusively reported in Nov. 2019, the entire Days cast was released from their contracts as a cost-cutting measure, three months before NBC renewed the soap for a 56th season. Vaughan referenced the incident during his chat.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m taking a break, if you will. Days was going through a renewal negotiation and not knowing where they were going to go,\u201d he said, adding that he felt his time on the daytime drama \u201cwas coming to an end, anyway.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vaughan has played Days\u2018 Eric Brady since 2012. He currently also plays Calvin on OWN\u2019s Queen Sugar.<\/p>\n
Earlier in July, Vaughan\u2019s Days co-star Kristian Alfonso announced she was leaving the soap she\u2019d worked on for nearly four decades. \u201d I will not be returning to Days when it resumes production in September,\u201d she said via statement. \u201cI\u2019ve already filmed my last episode several months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
Vaughan did not offer any information about his final airdate, but he did leave open the possibility of an eventual return. \u201cFor all my Days fans that are listening, I love you all,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s never over, so I\u2019m not going to say it\u2019s over.\u201d<\/p>\n
