Julian McMahon has been cast in the lead role of the planned \u201cFBI\u201d spinoff currently in the works at CBS, Variety has confirmed.<\/p>\n
The new series would be titled \u201cFBI: Most Wanted.\u201d It would follow the division of the FBI tasked with tracking and capturing the notorious criminals on the FBI\u2019s Most Wanted list. It will air as a planted spinoff episode, or backdoor pilot, of \u201cFBI\u201d that will be broadcast in spring 2019. The project has received a series commitment from the network.<\/p>\n
McMahon will play Jess LaCroix, described as an \u201cagent\u2019s agent\u201d who is at the top of his game, and oversees the team from the FBI\u2019s Most Wanted Unit, which is assigned the most extreme and egregious cases.<\/p>\n
McMahon recently starred in the Marvel-Hulu series \u201cRunaways\u201d and is known for his time as one of the two leads on the FX drama \u201cNip\/Tuck.\u201d His other television roles include \u201cCharmed,\u201d \u201cDirk Gently\u2019s Holistic Detective Agency,\u201d and \u201cProfiler.\u201d He also starred in the 2005 \u201cFantastic Four\u201d film and its sequel \u201cRise of the Silver Surfer.\u201d<\/p>\n
He is repped by ICM, MGMT Entertainment, and Bloom Hergott Diemer.<\/p>\n
\u201cMost Wanted\u201d will be written and executive produced by Dick Wolf and Rene Balcer. Balcer has served as a consulting producer on \u201cFBI\u201d and has previously collaborated with Wolf on multiple iterations of the \u201cLaw & Order\u201d franchise. \u201cFBI\u201d executive producers Arthur W. Forney and Peter Jankowski will also executive produce \u201cMost Wanted\u201d with Fred Berner directing the initial episode. Berner has previously produced and directed for several \u201cLaw & Order\u201d shows as well as the \u201cChicago\u201d shows.
