HARVEY Weinstein is trying to delay multiple civil cases against him by citing his recent medical troubles in legal filings.

Lawyers for the convicted rapist are also looking to dismiss the cases brought by Rose McGowan and Ashley Judd, arguing that the two have no legal right to sue and even suggesting that they may have lied in their lawsuits. Officials at Wende Correctional Facility said that two inmates had tested positive for coronavirus over the weekend.

Weinstein had just arrived at Wende from Rikers Island a few days prior, where there is currently a coronavirus outbreak. He also stopped at a detention facility in Marcy en route to Wende, where 50 prisoners are now being quarantined. The former Miramax head is serving a 23-year sentence after being convicted two weeks ago on two sexual assault counts, with another trial in Los Angeles fast approaching.

“On this date, we received the consent of both counsel for the plaintiff and the co-defendant for the extension to May 15, 2020,” reads the letters submitted in two of Weinstein’s cases. “It is Mr. Weinstein’s position that due to the current coronavirus, and a cessation of nonessential business in New York by way of state executive order, alongwith the reasons set forth below, that the May 15, 2020 extension is appropriate based on a practical and realistic assessment of the current circumstances. ”

Those letters were filed in federal court in the Southern District of New York just this week. His lawyers state that the case could not move forward because they are not able to meet with their clients ahead of the court date, according to documents obtained by The Sun. “Mr. Weinstein, due to his compromised state of health, is an at-risk individual. Communication, visitation, and the logistics of participation with counsel in the defense of this matter have been complicated,” reads the letter.

“In sum, the events over the past month have been a perfect storm for Mr. Weinstein, and in the interest of justice, and in recognition of these unprecedented times, an extension to May 15, 2020 is whollyproper.” The language is very careful to never actually say that Weinstein has tested positive for coronavirus,. Weinstein’s rep and legal team have also never confirmed the report out of Wende Correctional Facility.

The lawsuit filed by McGowan stems from Weinstein’s use of Black Cube, a team of highly skilled Mossad-agents-turned investigators who ther disgraced mogul does not deny employing to track Rose. A New Yorker story from November 2017 that alleged Weinstein hired journalists, highly trained ex-spies and military personnel who used fake identities to try to stop accusers from going public with sexual misconduct claims.

Among the private security agencies hired by Weinstein starting around 2016 was Black Cube, which is largely run by former officers of Israeli intelligence agencies.Another was corporate intelligence giant Kroll. Two Black Cube private eyes met with actress Rose McGowan long before she publicly accused Weinstein of raping her in order to obtain information according to that report.

One of the investigators secretly recorded at least four meetings with McGowan while pretending to be a women’s rights advocates, said the magazine and McGowan in her complaint. The spy later used a different fake identity to meet with a journalist while claiming to have an accusation against Weinstein, in order to learn which women were talking to the media. Weinstein and the private eyes also used journalists themselves to extract details from women who were making claims against Weinstein.

During his yearlong effort, Weinstein and his team would collect information on dozens of people according to court documents and compile psychological profiles with their personal or sexual histories in order to contradict, discredit or intimidate his targets. “McGowan’s allegation that Weinstein sexually assaulted her in 1997 is not at issue in this case,” reads the court filing.

“Instead, she alleges that 20 years later he engaged in a common scheme and conspiracy with the other defendants by attempting to avoid mention of him or mitigate the effect of mentioning him in a book that McGowan intended to, and ultimately did, publish. Weinstein’s case with Judd meanwhile is tied up in an appellate court, but a ruling could be coming as soon as next month.
